Using Online Tutorials for Microsoft Access Certification
Access is a powerful program to create and manage your databases. It has many built in features to assist you in constructing and viewing your information. Access is much more involved and is a more genuine database application than other programs such as Microsoft Works.
This tutorial will help you get started with Microsoft Access and may solve some of your problems, but it is a very good idea to use the Help Files that come with Microsoft Access, or go to Microsoft's web site for further assistance.
First of all you need to understand how Microsoft Access breaks down a database. Some keywords involved in this process are: Database File, Table, Record, Field, Data-type. Here is the Hierarchy that Microsoft Access uses in breaking down a database.
|
Database File: This is your main file that encompasses the entire database and that is saved to your hard-drive or floppy disk.
Example) StudentDatabase.mdb |
Table:A table is a collection of data about a specific topic. There can be multiple tables in a database.
Example #1) Students
Example #2) Teachers |
Field:Fields are the different categories within a Table. Tables usually contain multiple fields.
Example #1) Student LastName
Example #2) Student FirstName |
Datatypes:Datatypes are the properties of each field. A field only has 1 datatype.
FieldName) Student LastName
Datatype) Text |

Learn how to create database in Access - When you have decided to go for your Microsoft Access certification you are probably pretty excited. Of course, this certification does not carry as much weight as some of the others but it is worth having in its own right. There are quite a few ways you may want to go about studying for Microsoft Access certification and one option is to use online tutorials. This may seem like a novel idea and one that especially appeals to you. Computer savvy people really enjoy using technology to help them study and that is where the Microsoft Access tutorial on the Internet comes into play.
Microsoft Access training will take some time so don't think you can sign up for the exam and start going over the tutorials the night before. While some small percentage of folks doing this will pass not many will and it really isn't a good idea. The point of becoming certified in Access or anything else for that matter is so that you know how to handle the program and show others as well. If you just wing it and happen to pass the exam the certification won't help you all that much when it comes to your job. So, start using the Access tutorial CD long before the test day so that you can dedicate adequate time and energy to learning the software.
The best way to start with a Microsoft Access online tutorial is to see what is available. Different websites offer tutorials and you should compare which ones are best, as well as the sites showing the same tutorials. Once you choose a site then it is time to get serious. Sit down in a quiet place and start going over the tutorials. Don't let yourself move on from one tutorial to another unless you have no questions and are 100% sure you know everything that was presented.
A great idea is to focus on one or two tutorials per day, depending on your learning curve and as well as the difficulty of the particular tutorials. Sometimes you may be able to learn three tutorials in a day because it is easy information or information you already know and other tutorials may require two days of study. Just give yourself plenty of time and focus on what's important, which is becoming Microsoft Access certified. When you do this you will study they way you should and end up passing your certification exam.
